Coming this October: Bella Vista Awakening

What We Believe

The following are core beliefs of Bella Vista Community Church based on the foundational truths taught in the Bible. All of our teaching and ministry is rooted in and flows out of these biblical doctrines.

The Apostles' Creed

We believe in God the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth. And in Jesus Christ His only Son, our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; He descended into hades; the third day He rose again from the dead; He ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God, the Father Almighty; from thence He shall come to judge the quick and the dead. We believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy Christian church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting.

We Believe in:

The one true God who lives eternally in three persons—
the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.

The love, grace and sovereignty of God in creating, sustaining, ruling, redeeming and judging the world.

The divine inspiration, infallibility and supreme authority of the Old and New Testament Scriptures, which are the written Word of God—fully trustworthy for faith and life.

The dignity of all people, made male and female in God’s image to love, be holy and care for creation, yet corrupted by sin, which incurs divine wrath and judgment.

The incarnation of God’s eternal Son, the Lord Jesus Christ—born of the virgin Mary, truly divine and truly human,
yet without sin.

The atoning sacrifice of Christ on the cross; dying in our place, paying the price of sin and defeating evil, so reconciling us with God.

The bodily resurrection of Christ, the first fruits of our resurrection; His ascension to the Father and His reign and mediation as the only Savior of the world.

The justification of sinners solely by the grace of God
through faith alone in Christ alone.

The ministry of God the Holy Spirit who leads us to repentance, unites us with Christ through the new birth, empowers our discipleship and enables our witness.

The church, the body of Christ both local and universal, the priesthood of all believers—given life by the Spirit and endowed with the Spirit’s gifts to worship God and proclaim the gospel, promoting justice and love.

The personal and visible return of Jesus Christ to fulfill the purposes of God, who will raise all people to judgment, bring eternal life to the redeemed and eternal condemnation to the lost, and establish a new heaven and new earth.

Knowing Christ

Here at Bella Vista Community Church we are all about getting to know Jesus. The Bible, as God’s Word, proclaims how a person can come into a living and growing relationship with Jesus Christ.

1. Acknowledge you are a sinner. While some may think they are “good people,” everyone has committed sin. “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.”
(Romans 3:23)

2. Recognize you deserve death. Because God is holy, He must judge sin. The penalty for sin is eternal separation from God. “For the wages of sin is death.”
(Romans 6:23)

3. Understand Christ died for your sins and rose again. The Good News of the Bible is that God graciously supplied a substitute for the penalty you deserve. “But God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”
(Romans 5:8)

4. Put your trust in Christ as your Savior. God invites you to come into a personal relationship with Him through faith in Christ’s sin-atoning death on your behalf. “For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.” (Ephesians 2:8-9)

If you put your faith in Jesus Christ alone, your sins will be forgiven and you will come into a loving and eternal relationship with Him. “I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God that you may know that you have eternal life.”
(1 John 5:13)
