Be at Peace

2 Peter 3.11-14
Since all these things are thus to be dissolved, what sort of people ought you to be in lives of holiness and godliness, waiting for and hastening the coming of the day of God, because of which the heavens will be set on fire and dissolved, and the heavenly bodies will melt as they burn! But according to his promise we are waiting for new heavens and a new earth in which righteousness dwells. Therefore, beloved, since you are waiting for these, be diligent to be found by him without spot or blemish, and at peace.
Peter encourages us to live lives of holiness and godliness as we wait for Jesus Christ’s Second Coming. There is much concern in the world today. Perhaps you find yourself feeling frustrated or worried. Rather than focusing on things that are out of our control, Peter reminds us that we have hope in Jesus and should be diligent to be holy and at peace.

Self-control is a fruit of the Spirit. Do you ask the Holy Spirit to help you be in control of yourself? The point is that it is very difficult, one might say impossible, without depending on the Holy Spirit.

You have a choice. You can be intentional about every decision you make today. When you begin to worry, pray. Ask God to give you peace. Be a peacemaker. Serve people as an act of worship to God. Focus on living a life of holiness and godliness today. Is your character more like Jesus’?

Blessings,
Anna
