The Morning Star

2 Peter 1.19-21
And we have the prophetic word more fully confirmed, to which you will do well to pay attention as to a lamp shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts, knowing this first of all, that no prophecy of Scripture comes from someone’s own interpretation. For no prophecy was ever produced by the will of man, but men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit.
Since Peter is writing 2 Peter as one who knows his death is imminent, we can see his heart for fellow believers. Peter’s words certainly apply to us today as we continue to live in uncertainty due to a global pandemic. Peter encourages us to be sure about the hope we have in Jesus. He explains his concern about false teachers who might lead believers astray by focusing on how you can know God’s Word is true. God’s Word is certainly more reliable than any person’s word because God is our creator. Peter reminds us of the second coming of Jesus and refers to Jesus as the morning star.

When you think about your life, do you notice how God brings light to the darkness?

Do you confess your sin before God?

Have you put your faith in the morning star—Jesus? Do you allow God to speak to you by reading and studying the Bible?

Do you notice how God is at work in your life?

Blessings,
Anna
