Be You

1 Peter 5.1-4
So I exhort the elders among you, as a fellow elder and a witness of the sufferings of Christ, as well as a partaker in the glory that is going to be revealed: shepherd the flock of God that is among you, exercising oversight, not under compulsion, but willingly, as God would have you; not for shameful gain, but eagerly; not domineering over those in your charge, but being examples to the flock. And when the chief Shepherd appears, you will receive the unfading crown of glory.
God has been teaching me something wonderful this week about myself that I am not even capable of explaining. When you are truly ready to be exactly who God made only you to be, suddenly it is like an epiphany and all I can do is cry and say, “My cup overflows.” I have enjoyed my journey as one of your pastors for fifteen years now but it is like I see my role in a completely new light and I cannot stop sharing and experiencing different “God sightings” and telling stories about how God is at work.

As I have been reflecting during this time, I can see all the ways God has been at work in my life, even from a very young age, and it is like I have finally arrived to be exactly who I am supposed to be.

I like to give by being present and spending quality time with you.

I learn by experiential encouragement.

I want to be faithfully fulfilled.

In the coming days as I have opportunity to share in our sermons during the traditional service, I am going to try to explain what I am talking about and how big God is and the multiple ways he reminds us that he knows exactly who we are and wants to use us because if each one of us is truly who God made us to be the world will never be the same and the only explanation will be, “God just did it, and I tried to hang on for the ride!”

What brings you life?
How do you know when you are really in your element?
Are you just going through the motions, or are you really fulfilling your purpose today?

Blessings,
Anna
