Trust in the Lord

Proverbs 3.5-6
Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding.
In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.

What are some of the Bible verses you have memorized? Do you find yourself meditating on them? When I was young, my siblings and I were in Bible drills. My parents helped teach us at church, and there are all sorts of competitions and awards at different levels relating to the memorization of scripture. I have fond memories of memorizing scripture and finding helpful ways to remember God's Word. Psalm 119.11 says, "I have stored up your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you." It's important for us to "store up" or "hide" God’s Word in our heart.

I would encourage you to memorize Proverbs 3.5-6 and meditate on it. Memorize it in sections and ponder its meaning.

Trust in the Lord with all your heart,

And do not lean on your own understanding.

In all your ways acknowledge him,

And he will make straight your paths.

We are to trust and lean on the Lord. Certainly the Lord gives us other resources and entrusts us with making good decisions, but we are commanded to trust God completely. We are to rest in God, to lean on God, and not depend on our own understanding. We are to acknowledge the Lord in everything we do, and he will guide us on the right, or straight, path morally. The way we think and the way we act should reflect our Lord. How do you trust in the Lord?

Blessings,

Anna
