Jesus' Baptism

Mark 1.9-11
In those days Jesus came from Nazareth of Galilee and was baptized by John in the Jordan. And when he came up out of the water, immediately he saw the heavens being torn open and the Spirit descending on him like a dove. And a voice came from heaven, “You are my beloved Son; with you I am well pleased.”
Jesus’ baptism is the inauguration of his public ministry. Not only does Jesus provide forgiveness of sins in his work on the cross, he also lived a righteous life of obedience before God. As believers we stand in Jesus’ righteousness alone. God the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit are present as Jesus begins his mission of redemption.

Jesus identifies with us in our humanity even though he did not sin. What do you remember about your baptism? How are you walking in Jesus’ righteousness today?
