Grow, Grace, Glory!

2 Peter 3.18
But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be the glory both now and to the day of eternity. Amen.
As we conclude our study of 2 Peter today, let’s review the ground that we have covered. 2 Peter reminds us that false teachers in the church will always be a pressing problem for Christians, but the promised presence of our returning Savior Jesus Christ looms bright on the horizon superseding any human presence that now assaults us. To Him we must continue to look, and for Him we must continue to live.

And then Peter concludes his letter with words reflecting the opening statements of chapter 1. This encourages us to "keep on growing." No true Christian believes, "I have arrived." The Christian life is a continual, growing life and was never intended to stand still. That growth finds its focus in an ever-increasing awareness and understanding of the person and character of Jesus Christ. Pursuing Christian maturity and a deepening knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ will lead to doctrinal stability and prevent us from being led astray.

Let me encourage you today to participate in a Community Life Group, Women’s Bible study, or Men’s Fellowship. These ministries are offered to help you grow in Christ. Call the church office today to find out dates & times for these studies. Get plugged in and grow in Christ with other Christians. They need you, and you need them!

Peter’s final word to the church is in the form of doxology: To him (Christ) be the glory both now and to the day of eternity. Glory belongs to Christ both now and throughout the endless day that will dawn when He comes again!
Soli Deo Gloria,
Pastor Jeff
