CONSTITUTION FOR BELLA VISTA COMMUNITY CHURCH

BELLA VISTA, ARKANSAS

                                                                                      

November 13, 1994

 

PREAMBLE

We, the members of the Bella Vista Community Church, in order to provide an opportunity for Christian worship and participation in Christian love and activity with fellow Christians, and to promote the Spirit of Jesus Christ and advance the Kingdom of God in our community, do adopt this Constitution.

                      

ARTICLE I – NAME AND LEGAL STATUS

The name of the organization will be Bella Vista Community Church. It is not affiliated with any other religious denomination, and the congregation is its ultimate governing body. It is a Domestic Nonprofit Corporation as manifested by a Certificate of Incorporation issued by the Secretary of State of the state of Arkansas, and all property, real and otherwise, will be owned by the congregation within the restrictions of the Certificate of Amendment to the above Certificate, dated July 22, 1974.

 

ARTICLE II – STATEMENT OF FAITH

This church believes that through the Holy Scriptures God has revealed that Jesus Christ is Lord and Savior of all and Head of the Church. The Church, as the Body of Christ, is the whole people of God throughout the world, seeking to fulfill the ministry of Jesus Christ in the world by proclaiming the Good News of the Gospel in word and deed to the end that commitment to Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior may ensue and the love of God be revealed by Christian compassion in mission outreach.

                                                      

ARTICLE III – STATEMENT OF OBJECTIVES

The basic objective of the Bella Vista Community Church is to provide an opportunity for its members to worship and study in an interdenominational setting. In accordance with Revelation in the New Testament, its further purpose is to encourage those worshippers in faith in Jesus Christ to make an active commitment to the work of the Church, to aid in their continuing growth in the grace and knowledge of Christ that they may know His will, and to work for the unity of all Christians that they may build the Kingdom of God together.

                                                         

This church aims to maintain a missionary outreach program at local, state, national and international levels. All mission funds shall be distributed in the manner specified in the Bylaws.

 

ARTICLE IV – MEMBERSHIP AND VOTING PRIVILEGES

Membership in this church is open to all persons and is granted in one of the following ways:

 

A. By letter of transfer from a recognized church stating that the candidate is a member in good standing.

B.   By a reaffirmation of faith by those previously baptized, but with no present church affiliation.

C.  By a confession of faith leading to baptism, which will be administered in the manner desired by the candidate.

D.  By associate membership, with an affirmation of dual loyalty when the ties of the previous church are of special significance.

E.   By completion of confirmation classes.

                           

Voting privileges will be accorded to all members.

 

ARTICLE V – ADMINISTRATION AND SPIRITUAL LEADERSHIP

The congregation is the ultimate governing body of the church.

 

The Bylaws will serve as a basis for effective and efficient accomplishment of church objectives. They shall govern church programs and business activities.

 

Ministers will be responsible for the spiritual leadership of the church as Ministers of the Word, Ministers and Counselors of the Congregation.

 

ARTICLE VI – AMENDMENTS

This Constitution may be amended by two-thirds (2/3) of the members of the congregation present and voting at any Annual Meeting of the Congregation, or at a Special Called Congregational Meeting, provided that written notice, and an explanation in written form of the recommended change(s) will have been presented to the Congregation at least two (2) weeks prior to the meeting. Written form is to be understood as the Sunday Worship Program, the Church Paper or other forms of written correspondence.
